[Smt-talk] Rosen vs Kerman Redux

Dear Mr Soderberg,

First, your description of theory courses as experiences for performers to "suffer" distresses me. On the other hand, perhaps I should give you the benefit of the doubt and believe you're referring to the sort of suffering that's beneficial for both one's character and one's intellectual/musical development.

Second, I require my TH 5 (Baroque Ctpt) students to compose two pieces: a 17th c ground bass trio sonata and an 18th c fugue. The former is performed in class, the latter submitted at term's end.
