With apologies for cross-posting:
The AMS History of Music Theory Study Group is organizing a special evening
session at the AMS Boston 2019 conference on the theme of "Revolutions in
the History of Music Theory." We invite proposals for short papers (ca. 15
mins) that engage with the idea of revolution from a wide range of
perspectives, including but not limited to: the entanglements of music
theory with political, theological, or technological revolutions across the
historical spectrum; the role of music theory in the articulation or defense
of stylistic, notational, or historiographical revolutions; and the use of
"revolutionary" structures such as circular diagrams, rotational symmetries,
and cyclical patterns in the formulation of music-theoretical concepts.
Proposals of no more than 200 words should be sent to
historyofmusictheory at gmail.com <mailto:historyofmusictheory at gmail.com> by
May 8.
