Dear PAIG Members,

We are excited to share with you the following program for our annual meeting, which will take place over Zoom tonight from 7:00 to 8:45 pm Eastern:

Lightning talks (7:00-7:45 pm)
Our presenters have written short teasers of their presentations, which you can read at the links below.

Panel Discussion, "Cellists' Analysis" (7:45-8:45 pm)
--Michael Kaufman (Colburn School, Loyola Marymount University) and Julia Lichten (Manhattan School of Music, SUNY Purchase), invited panelists
--Daniel Ketter (Missouri State University) and Nathan Pell (The Graduate Center, CUNY), moderators (also cellists!)
A moderated discussion between a panel of professional cellists and session attendees exploring how the physical and interpretive realities of cello playing relate to traditional analytic methods and how the latter could be adjusted or expanded in light of the former. We will focus on short passages of music by J.S. Bach (C major Suite, Prelude), R. Schumann (Op. 73, No. 1), L. Boulanger (Nocturne for violin and piano), and K. Saariaho (Papillon II). No preparation in advance or cellistic knowledge required.

We hope to see you there!

All best,
Nathan Pell and Daniel Ketter
SMT PAIG Co-Chairs
