Dear PAIG members,
We have extended the deadline for proposal submissions for our virtual
spring meeting to Sunday, April 27. Please see the original CFP below:
The SMT Performance and Analysis Interest Group (PAIG) invites proposals
for 13-minute lightning talks at its virtual spring meeting, to be held
over Zoom on *Friday, June 20, 2025*, from 8:00 to 9:15 pm EDT.
Proposals may address any aspect of the relation between music performance
and music theory/analysis, broadly construed. Authors are encouraged to
make performance-analysis connections explicit. Proposals should also
reflect a presentation’s feasibility for the lightning format and its
incorporation of recorded or live music. We welcome creative delivery
approaches (lecture recitals, teaching demonstrations, audience
participation, etc.) and collaborations between scholars and performers. We
also encourage authors to submit proposals for projects that are in early
stages, as the lightning format is an effective forum in which to socialize
such work. Authors may submit only one proposal for consideration, and
proposals will be reviewed anonymously.
To submit a proposal, please do the following by *Sunday, April 27, 2025*:
—Prepare a PDF file that includes (1) a title, (2) a proposal of up to 500
words, and (3) up to 2 pages of examples and/or bibliography. The entire
document (including filename and metadata) should be anonymized, with
self-references in the third person.
—Submit that file to this Google Form <https://forms.gle/GuYf1uuMNgiCAGFv9>
(https://forms.gle/GuYf1uuMNgiCAGFv9) no later than 11:59 pm EDT on the
due date.
If your proposal is accepted, you are invited (though not required) to
provide PAIG with a short (500–750 word) “teaser” blog post by Friday, June
13, to be written in a reasonably non-technical and accessible style. This
could simply adapt your proposal or could be a newly composed text. PAIG
blog staff will assist those unfamiliar with the medium. We will use this
blog post to promote our meeting and to give PAIG members the opportunity
to engage with your ideas or listen to recordings in advance of the session.
PAIG Spring 2025 Program Committee: Christa Cole (Oberlin College and
Conservatory, ex officio), Daniel Ketter (Missouri State University, ex
officio), Timothy Koozin (University of Houston), Mark Micchelli

any questions.
Take care,
