Yosef,
At our school we require that students in all four levels of
Musicianship classes own McGamut and use it on a regular basis at
home. It is also resident in the computers in our Computer Aided
Instruction Lab so the students can work with it at school as well.
However, their dictation skills are tested by the melodic and harmonic
assignments we send them by email each week. They are required to
enter their results in a notation program (Finale? Sibelius?) and
return it to the instructor as a PDF file. We send them 8 melodic and
8 harmonic dictations (composed by yours truly) during the semester
and also do an occasional activity in class so their process can be
monitored by the instructor.
Best regards,
Steve
