Dear list members,

I would be interested in hearing from any list members who encountered
David Lewin's 1974 essay on Schubert's Morgengruss, either in one of
Lewin's graduate courses, or through informal channels of circulation.
This request is in connection with a book that David Schwarz and I are
co-editing, under contract at the Oxford University Press. The book
publishes the essay for the first time, and seeks to contextualize it
from various perspectives.

One of those perspectives involves the essay's reception. Any
information or testimony that you can provide, about any of the
following, would be greatly appreciated, and duly acknowledged: 1) how
Lewin used the essay in his courses, and what sorts of responses it
elicited, 2) any use of the essay in other teaching situations by other
theorists, 3) any references to the essay in publications, (aside from
Lewin's own later writings, and those of Fred Lerdahl), 4) anything else
that might be relevant to our project.

You may respond to me at richard.cohn at yale.edu, or to David Schwarz at
David.Schwarz at unt.edu

Many thanks to all in advance.

--Rick Cohn
