With great sadness, I relay the news that Steve Larson passed away on June 7th after a battle with brian cancer. The University of Oregon has posted a brief news item here:  http://music.uoregon.edu/events/news.htm

Steve was a brilliant music theorist, original thinker, great musician, and a genuinely warm human being. I feel lucky to have been counted among his friends for more than twenty years. He shall be sorely missed. Requiescat in pace.
