[Smt-talk] Time to take it outside?

Dear colleagues,

For several days (weeks?) now, I have found my inbox swamped with postings about the six-four chord, seventh chord labeling, and other closely associated matters.

Frankly, it amazes me that a discussion of this kind can go on for so long in the precincts of a learned society, but I'll say no more about that issue.

What I would like to ask, respectfully, is that those among us who would like to continue (perhaps ad infinitum) arguing about the six-four chord et al. kindly take their discussion off the list.  It's had quite a bit of play by now, and I suspect that many of my fellow subscribers to smt-talk are really not interested in hearing any more about it.
