This migration of song lyrics with respect to downbeats is interesting. I
had made a similar observation to myself when listening to the radio
sometime within the last two weeks, and was reminded of Dai Griffiths'
discussion of 'pillars' in 'verbal space' in "From Lyric to Anti-Lyric:
Analyzing the Words in Pop Song." It's a chapter in *Analyzing Popular
Music*, ed. Allan Moore (Cambridge, 2003).
