[Smt-talk] MISSING THEORY COMPONENT?

Dear List,


there was a theory of melody in the 17th and 18th centuries - a very rich and detailed one. It’s just that no-one has ever written about it. 


With apologies for mentioning my own research, but a book on ‘The Solfeggio Tradition’ will be published next year. It seeks to explain the tens of thousands of solfeggi manuscripts currently gathering dust in European archives, and how they were used to teach melodic composition.
