Corelli trio sonatas are what I've always used at the earliest stages, esp the non-thematic Grave movements, which are short, uncomplicated, and classic demonstrations of upper-voice descents. If you need literature, Christopher Wintle's Schenkerian account of two of the movements from one of the sonatas was published years ago in the proceedings of one of the Corelli conferences (I seem to remember the paper caused a scandal among the Corelliologists when it was given...) I can dig out the real ref if you need it, but am flying to the US this morning so won't have time for the next 10 days or so.
Would send this to Smt-talk as well, but I think there's something amiss with my subscription to it!
Best wishes
Hi,

I’m teaching an Introduction to Schenkerian Analysis course this fall and of
my 20 students, 12 are string players! Can anyone recommend string
repertory that would be appropriate for such a course? I appreciate any
suggestions.

Thanks,
