My two cents: "Round Midnight"'s Ebm is the darkest key, with Barber's Bbm running second. On the keyboard, black-key pieces are simply more comfortable (e. g., Joplin's Maple Leaf in AbM/DbM). As for strings and brass, multi-flat/sharp keys, lacking open, non-stopped tones, produce muted colors, which create a mellow affect.
