I'm writing on behalf of the virtual forum *Encounters with
Eighteenth-Century Music *regarding an upcoming online event that might be
of interest to members of the History of Theory Interest Group:
"*Exoticism or Chinese Cosmpolitanism?: Western Music in Eighteenth-Century
China" *by *Qingfan Jiang *(Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins
University). Friday, *November 1, 2024, 3:30–5:00pm EDT.*
In this talk, Jiang "revisits the concept of exoticism in the context of
global music history" and examines "how the Chinese imperial court
incorporated Western music theory into the Chinese music system." A
complete abstract and registration link (free but required) are available
on our website

.
Thank you!
