Dear Colleagues,

I’m writing to follow up about our business meeting in Vancouver:

(1) CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

In early December, we will be holding an election for a PAIG co-chair to serve for a term concluding in November 2020. Any SMT member who is also a member of PAIG is eligible to run for this position.

Could I ask any interested candidates to please email me by November 30? Please include (1) a short bio (up to 100 words) and (2) a short personal statement (up to 200 words). These will be distributed to PAIG’s members along with their ballots.

If you wish to nominate someone else for the position, please email them and copy me. I will need to receive their bio and statement by the deadline so we can proceed with an election in early December.

I hope many of you will consider running for the position or nominating someone to do so! Thank you for your consideration and for your service to our group.

(2) BY-LAWS

Attached is the final text of the PAIG By-Laws we ratified at our meeting in Vancouver. At the meeting, we noted that the process was somewhat rushed, and there are a number of items that warrant revisiting and a more careful discussion. (These include wording defining membership/voting membership, and wording requiring the use of blind review to select programs for our meetings.)

I propose that, after our election, the new co-chair and I convene a small working group to develop some proposed amendments that clean up these and any other issues. We can discuss those electronically well in advance of our 2017 meeting, so that they will be prepared for quick adoption. In the interest of supporting that process, the attachment includes both the final By-Laws (as adopted) and the original, proposed wording for reference.

Best,

Ed
