PS:  On the topic of this-is-nothing-really-new & giving due credit, it
is my impression that Howard Hanson was the first to use interval string
notation in music in his _Harmonic Materials of Twentieth-Century Music_
(1960).  Others should please correct that impression if I am wrong.
