You can find a Renaissance example of "mirror" inversion in my Modal Counterpoint, Renaissance Style, p. 297, and some Baroque treatise and repertoire examples in Baroque Counterpoint (Schubert + Neidhofer, pp 344-5). A very nice example is the Laudate pueri of Mozart's Vespers of the confessor K 339.
