Hi,

In Latin America, but particularly in Argentina and perhaps Venezuela, the
figure of Isabel Aretz is prominent in the study and theorizing about folk
music. Between 1940 and 1980 was a figure of first place. Today his
diffusionist theories about folklore are in decline in academic circles, but
they are still strong through pedagogical texts for the primary and secondary
levels of education which treated traditional music as a myth.
