[Smt-talk] One thought on Language Use

I’m definitely in favor of graceful treatment and usage of the language, while acknowledging, as others have, that usage shifts over the years.  But (and pardon me if someone’s already made this point), I’m still not sure whether Art was intentionally using the verbs “combat” and “pillory” in the second-to-last sentence of his original post as counterexamples or something of the sort . . .
