[Smt-talk] Tonic challenging pieces

Hello

I am gathering a list of pieces and/or movements in Sonata Form in which the tonic is seriously questioned/challenged, particularly in tonal-reaffirming sections such as Hepokoskian/Darcyan EEC or ESC.
Some guidelines in order to narrow the search:

1) written between 1890 and 1915.
2) falls under a conservative definition of tonal music (tonal hierarchy; contrasting key/tonal areas).

The pieces might be for any instrumental/vocal formation.

As an example (and therefore its exclusion from the list), is E. Elgar's First Symphony, first movement, a piece in A-flat major, but with its EEC in a minor and with two ESCs, one in F and another in A-flat.

Thank you,
