me too, i don't find the implementation in thomas' link very convincing.
but the phenomenon works.
i think the scale-movement doesn't help:
take some voices with i.e. repetitions in a particular rhythm- 
proportion, the slower one fading out, the faster fading in and the  
whole process with an acc. or rit.
